Bickmore, Carrie OAM is an Australian talk show host and current affairs broadcaster who has won Gold Logie Awards for both radio and television. 1980 saw the birth of Bickmore in Adelaide, South Australia, but she and her family soon relocated to Perth, Western Australia. After attending the Anglican girls ‘ school Perth College, Bickmore studied journalism at Curtin University of Technology and graduated in 2000. In order to pursue a media career, she relocated to Melbourne, Victoria, in 2001. Bickmore began her career as a newsreader on Perth’s 92.9FM as a last-minute replacement for a sick coworker. Brian Bickmore, her father, was a radio announcer at the time and eventually held executive positions within the Austereo network.
The station after that hired her as a regular newsreader. Bickmore started reading the afternoon news for Melbourne radio station Nova 100, and she and Andy Ross joined the show as co-hosts. Bickmore competed in the Australian Commercial Radio Awards’ Best News Presenter category. On behalf of Nova 100, Bickmore, Rebecca Leahy, and Michael Colling accepted the prize for Best Community Service Project – Metro. Bickmore was hired in 2007 to work as Hughesy & Kate’s breakfast newsreader on Nova 100. She made the announcement that she was quitting Nova 100 to concentrate on The 7 pm Project in August 2009. Bickmore and Charlie Pickering appeared on the three-week-long, nationally broadcast radio program The Breakfast Project in October 2012. The show won over both reviewers and viewers, and it gave rise to rumours that Bickmore and Pickering would start appearing regularly on Nova 100 Melbourne. Bickmore made a final appearance at Nova 100 in November 2013 to read the news and bid farewell to the station’s longtime Hughesy and Kate.
Bickmore and Tommy Little were announced by Southern Cross Austereo to anchor Carrie & Tommy on the Hit Network beginning at 3 pm in January 2017. She love Greg Lange, a media business professional, in 2005. Oliver, their son, was born to her in 2007. In 2010, Lange passed away following a ten-year struggle with brain cancer. Bickmore revealed on The Project on October 8th, 2014, that she was expecting her second child with partner Chris Walker. In 2015, she gave birth to a child named Evie. Bickmore announced her third pregnancy in a video on Instagram on June 21, 2018, later that year she gave birth to another daughter, Adelaide. “Carrie has been a brilliant host of The Project for the past 13 years, and she has also been a respected, cherished, and much-loved member of the 10 families for the past 17 years when she often featured as the well-liked newsreader on Rove Live.
It’s understandable why viewers welcomed her into their living rooms and onto their TVs night after night. The OAM was given to the former radio newsreader in 2019 for her contributions to broadcast media and raising awareness of brain cancer. she started her career on 92.9FM in Perth. In an article for Stellar Magazine, she described her “third attempt at motherhood” as “one of the most trying times of my life.” One of Bickmore’s Instagram photos including an “Instagram versus reality” comparison was particularly well received by her followers, who thanked her for being “genuine” in sharing the daily highs and lows of parenting.
