Web developer and tech blogger Lester Chan does both of those things. He enjoys playing with electronics and catching a movie. At Mig33, where he is employed as a Web Engineering coder, he has spent many years focusing on graphical user interfaces and other backend concerns.
Since the release of WordPress’s older content management system b2 in 2003, which lacked many capabilities, Lester Chan has been one of the most well-known WordPress plugin development authors. WP-PageNavi, WP-Polls, WP-DBManager, WP-Sweep, WP-PostViews, and WP-PostRatings are just a few of the popular WordPress plugins he has developed.
Lester has created a total of 23 WordPress Plugins using the programming languages PHP and MYSQL. He is currently regarded as one of the top three WordPress Plugin developers in the entire globe. His WordPress Plugins have been downloaded over 15 million times combined. They are featured in WordPress publications published in various languages and sold in other nations, such as WordPress for Dummies. My WordPress Plugins are used by several Fortune 500 organizations, including Coca-Cola, Xerox, Yahoo, Sony, Ford, and the Wall Street Journal, amongst others.
Lester is a Senior Software Engineer for Full Stack at Grab, where he now works. Grab, the most popular and successful mega app in Southeast Asia, offers transportation, logistics, and financial services.
Earlier in his career, Lester worked in the technology industry in Asia as the Head of Engineering. Tech in Asia is a platform that provides tech communities with access to the industry’s media, events, and career opportunities. In addition to directing the engineering staff, he is responsible for all initiatives related to WordPress. This involves the development of bespoke plugins and the scalability of techinasia.com and its subsidiary websites.
Both the National University of Singapore and Singapore Polytechnic awarded Lester degrees in Computing; his major is Information Systems, and he also has a diploma in Multimedia Technology from the latter institution.
Because Lester is such a staunch supporter of open-source software, most of his projects, including the plugins he creates for WordPress, are accessible on GitHub.
Lester is also the person who created the website lesterchan.net. It is a personal website for him, and it features both his blog and his portfolio. Throughout his blogging career, he has primarily discussed technological advancements and various electronic devices. As a result, he is currently ranked among the top 10 most influential tech bloggers in Singapore and among the top 3 websites in that country.
One of Chan’s contents consists of his discussion, via his blogs, of how he manages the support for 23 different plugins and offers suggestions to improve WordPress.org to make it easier to provide support. One of his recommendations is to grant the creators of plugins the ability to close threads in the help forums associated with their plugins. Chan gives us an overview of the WordPress community in Singapore and reveals a shortage of WordPress developers in the country. He describes his responsibilities as the “Tech Guy” for the website Tech In Asia, which WordPress powers.
