Christabel Chua is also the founder of the 2017 lifestyle brand kai. Between 2016 and 2018, Christabel Chua was active on her YouTube channel. She is still uploading vlogs to her YouTube channel, but she is not as active as she once was. She primarily uploaded travel and beauty video content, similar to her blog. Christabel currently has over 266,000 Instagram followers and 46,000 YouTube subscribers.
Christabel Chua has worked as a timekeeper at events and modelled part-time for online blogshops. She also worked as a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream scooper for five years. Christabel Chua was primarily a travel and beauty blogger when she was still active.
Christabel has always utilised the Internet to share pleasure, love, and happiness. Yet, out of the torrent of feelings that poured upon her, disappointment was the most vital—disappointment at the flagrant disdain for her privacy and lack of fundamental human decency displayed by numerous individuals.
Christabel has endured much over the previous few years. Shortly after breaking up with her ex-boyfriend of four years, Joal Ong, her private videos were leaked, and she became the talk of the town and the victim of vile social media direct messages and derogatory comments.
Instead of allowing these events to demoralise her, she worked diligently and concentrated on herself.
Christabel bravely admitted that what had happened had affected her. Since the incident, a few people have reached out to Christabel to tell her that they, too, are experiencing the agony of sexual harassment. So Christabel wrote an open letter to those ladies, assuring them that they are not alone and that Christabel stands by them.
Christabel’s privacy was violated, and her modesty was neglected. Private videos taken during a committed four-year relationship and obtained by an anonymous source flooded the internet, resulting in an influx of lewd messages that can only be classified as sexual harassment. Christabel is still bringing to them to this day.
Christabel was terrified, humiliated, and violated at the time and didn’t know what to do. She was terrified because she knew that taking action could exacerbate the situation. It was challenging to deal with being thrown headlong into a case of such chaos and verbal abuse at first.
The modesty of Christabel was mocked in online forums; others created anonymous email accounts and Instagram identities to send insulting comments that explained their wicked thoughts about her; and angry letters were sent to her friends, relatives, and clients with whom she had worked. It was as if she no longer deserved to be a daughter, a friend, or a person with the right to solitude.
The Internet became Christabel‘s primary source of suffering and agony. Only through the love of her family and friends was she able to find the strength and support she required to remain afloat.
Despite her pain and difficulties, Christabel stood up. She does not let what has happened to her define her but instead shapes herself.
Today, she is not only a well-known content creator, but she is also the proud owner of her lifestyle brand, kai. And she’s also getting married soon.
Christabel Chua has been relatively quiet about her love life since her breakup from Joal Ong, but those who follow her on Instagram know she already has a new boyfriend. We don’t know his name and can only catch glimpses of him on her Instagram page because Christabel hasn’t revealed much about her love life and has kept her entire relationship private.
