Even though they have worked together on songs since last September, nearly three years after they first started working together on the single, singer and music producer Rico Blanco claimed that there was never any romantic tension between him and Maris Racal (with whom he has a 25-year age difference) at first. The OPM veteran discussed when he initially started to develop feelings for the former housemate of Pinoy Big Brother.
Speaking candidly about how their relationship began, Rico Blanco said Maris Racal’s “positive attitude” helped him be his best. As he acknowledged during the virtual press conference for “The Goodbye Girl,” which was broadcast on ABS-YouTube CBN’s page yesterday, February 2, the artist initially did not feel anything for Racal despite having collaborated with her on projects in the past. When Blanco discovered his affection for the actress and his thoughts on her as a girlfriend were both brought up.
“A while back, Maris and I attempted to determine how it occurred. Perhaps it happened gradually,” he said. Since Blanco tends to maintain a professional demeanor while at work, he never considered dating Racal while working together.
“I believe this is not the first time I have met her. Without a doubt, not while we were recording and working on the song, he added. “I take pride in my professionalism in the studio and even on the set when I’m acting, regardless of whether I think the person I’m working with is attractive or not.” Then Blanco realized that he and Racal had spoken online after working together; he thinks this is when he first developed feelings for her. “Perhaps during our conversations, we were enquiring about one another’s well-being via direct messaging.”
The former Rivermaya vocalist continued by stating that Racal’s upbeat outlook encourages people to have “childlike enjoyment,” something he also noticed when he grew close to the actress’ siblings and mother. “What I adore about Maris is that she doesn’t even know how contagious her mood is, how it makes people smile. He recounted, “I believe it to be typical for her and her siblings. “I spent time with the sisters, the family, and even Maris’ mother, and it seemed friendly there,” said Maris.
“In general, she exudes such positivity. It makes me my best self. Rico continued, I also get to show off my better side since I occasionally lose sight of my playful side. Everybody has a little childlike fun, and she pulls that out. When asked about Blanco as a partner, Racal said he makes him feel secure and safe”If being with me makes him happy and have fun, he gives me peace and security. When he is present, I feel secure. When I tell him about a difficulty or overthinking, he always comes up with a reasonable explanation, and I eventually come to comprehend myself and what I was thinking.”
