Liza Soberano is an actress from the Philippines who made her mark in the global entertainment industry. Her first big break was playing a lead role in the hit TV series “Forevermore,” where she fell in love with her co-actor, Enrique Gil. They became friends and then something more as their characters also fell in love on camera. When their roles ended, they remained friends and even continued dating for several months until they split amicably in 2016. Not only did Liza’s career take off after that, but she also grew stronger and found herself by learning more about her faith and embracing her beauty. She developed a new confidence that not only helped her rediscover her faith but also improved both personally and professionally by landing several movie roles and modeling gigs afterward.
She is BFFs with Kathryn Bernardo!
She was born and raised in Santa Clara, California. After her parents separated, her paternal grandparents raised her until she moved to Manila in 2008. She then lived with her father and relatives, where she continued her studies in middle school and completed high school here.
When Liza was 12 years old, she soon received an invitation to model for print advertisements. Her debut appearance on film was in the variety show Eat Bulaga! as a Barangay Audience.’ in 2010. At age 13, a talent scout identified her and gave Ogie Diaz, a comedian and showbiz writer, a chance to handle her career.
Her inability to speak Tagalog well, however, had a significant negative impact on her career. For her to get substantial roles in television and movies, Diaz advised her to learn the language. This piece of advice proved to be sufficient. Liza made her acting debut in the comedic anthology TV show in October 2011.
Liza’s breakthrough came when she earned her first leading part in the popular rom-com television series “Forevermore,” where she played a stubborn strawberry farmer named Maria Agnes Calay opposite Enrique Gil, who portrayed the heir to a hotel chain named Alexander “Xander” Grande III. She was listed among the “29 Most Bright & Beautiful” individuals in 2015 by The Philippine Star.
Soberano played Gil’s love interest in “Every day, I Love You” after “Forevermore,” which was followed by the movie version of the Wattpad book “The Bet,” now known as “Just The Way You Are.”
But she’s not just an actress and model. Liza utilized the quarantine period during the COVID-19 pandemic to concentrate on her online coursework from March to July 2020.
The young actor finished her first year of college in August.
Last August, Liza said she had “qualified for top Psychology student” in her first year of college in a virtual interview with PEP.ph and other media.
Aside from being a good student and a role model to her teen fans, Liza frequently updates her fans on her family on social media and uses it to demonstrate her affection for them.
For instance, she posted a photo of her grandparents and said that it was thanks to them that she is who she is now.
So we can always look at Liza, who is not only a talented actress and model but also a loving and supportive daughter, sister, and girlfriend.
