MissTamChiak.com is a leading online food and beverage (F&B) publication in Singapore. The company also understands the value of social media and public relations in the food and beverage industry. As an outcome, MissTamChiak specifically tailors strategic public relations and social media campaigns for businesses.
Maureen Ow is the creator of MissTamChiak. Maureen was born into a family of enthusiastic foodies and has always loved all things culinary, particularly Singaporean cuisine. With a lifelong fascination with Singapore’s rapidly evolving food scene, she founded this website in 2007 to explore and celebrate all types of local Singapore dishes and share her love of travel and food with the rest of the world.
She has four years of experience as a journalist and producer and a wealth of knowledge in food writing, photography, and styling. “Tam Chiak” is a native term that means “greedy” or “gluttonous.”
MissTamChiak.com provides an authentic representation of the delectable cuisine and outstanding local culture of Singapore and the rest of the world. From street vendors and hawkers to cafes and excellent restaurants, you will be able to enjoy some of the world’s most delectable meals, and a new culinary adventure is always just around the corner. With more than a million page views every month, the website is one of the most popular blogs in Singapore.
When Maureen first visited Serangoon, she went to a coffee shop where she observed Terence Chee working hard in the kitchen. There, she realized that food writing would become her life’s profession.
When Terrence was telling her about his life’s story, he mentioned that food had been one of his passions throughout his life. And because he enjoys what he is doing, it brings him great delight when clients express how much they appreciate his Hokkien Mee. What Terence had to say struck a chord with Maureen, and she felt a connection with him. It is a much more complicated endeavor than simply working for a paying job to make a livelihood doing what you love. Every kind of work necessitates a significant amount of preparation in the form of planning and networking with others.
In her late twenties, Maureen realized that it would be too late if she waited until she felt ready to undertake something. Maureen quit her profession as a journalist to follow her passion for food. She did not enter the kitchen as Terence did. Instead, Maureen concentrated on her 2007-started food blog, Miss Tam Chiak, and expanded it into an online food website. Currently, the website receives close to one million page views each month, and she oversees a team of six writers that maintain the site. If you’re doing the thing you enjoy, you’re not working; you’re yourself. Following graduation, Maureen had a successful career.
Maureen’s supervisors and coworkers were excellent, and she was given several possibilities inside the organization. Maureen still remembered her final day; she was sobbing uncontrollably while packing her belongings. She had an unidentified fear and questioned whether it was the best decision. Leaving your comfort zone is always the most challenging thing to do. But once you are on your own, you will learn that living an incredible life is relatively simple. You must be willing to do what others are unwilling to do. Things that are a bit too difficult take a bit too long or are a bit too uncertain.
Maureen’s years as a journalist equipped her with the abilities necessary to produce quality content for Miss Tam Chiak. Maureen’s Passion for photography allowed her to create numerous alluring photographs for restaurants. After obtaining her professional tourist guide certification, she can demonstrate her affection for Singapore and its distinctive street food culture.
When a passion becomes a profession, employment no longer feels like work. Maureen’s main regret is that she should have taken that leap of faith earlier. However, there is no perfect timing. You will never have enough money, knowledge, or connections to start a business with ease. But if you persevere, you will experience the most rewarding journey. Therefore, if you have a passion, do not delay. Begin your trip; Passion made possible!
