Hangi Tavakoli, who works in the music industry in Iran as a musician, record producer, composer, songwriter, music arranger, and sound engineer, is also known simply as Hangi. He was given the name Farhang Tavakoli at birth.
During his active years, which began in 2004, he produced more than 3,000 songs that were published and wrote more than 4,800 songs that were published. During this time, he was responsible for writing several songs that became significant hits on an international scale.
Hangi is best known for composing and producing orchestral film soundtracks that have a flavour reminiscent of the Middle East. These works brought him the most attention and helped him become famous. Despite this, he is also the creator of many well-known hip-hop songs, some of which have been featured on the albums of major international artists. On the other hand, he is also notable for producing a wide range of hit songs in the pop and hip hop genres for over 150 artists from Iran and other countries.
Hangi Tavakoli, an Iranian musician, currently serves as Productions Director at the Singaporean company Flipside Productions & Marketing Pte Ltd.
Synesthesia is the name given to the sensory condition that Tavakoli experiences. This condition allows him to “associate colours with music, or music with colours.” In addition to that, as a result of this condition, he can visualise musical compositions.
According to the laws of Iran, Hangi and the musical activities he engaged in were considered unlawful. In 2011, Hangi decided to leave Iran due to the heavy control and filtering that the Iranian government exercised over the music scene in the country at the time. Following his move, he initially established his home in Penang, Malaysia, and he remained in that location until 2014 when he relocated to Singapore. In addition to making his music, he is currently running his record label, Flipside Productions, and his own business and producing songs for regional Asian musicians.
