Sanjiv Mehta is an Indian-based business executive, the chairman & the managing director (MD) of the famous worldwide company HINDUSTAN UNILEVER LIMITED. It is one of India’s most oversized fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies and is ranked in the top 5 most valuable companies in our country.
Sanjiv Mehta was born in Kanpur. He studied in Mumbai and Nagpur too. He is a chartered accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. And afterward finished the dream of his Advanced Management Programme at the Harvard Business School.
HIS JOURNEY OF HUL
Sanjiv Mehta’s carrier began in 1983 with Union Carbide. In the year 1998, he became part of the board of Unilever Bangladesh as its retail director. In April 2002, he got promoted and was designated as the chairman and the managing director of Unilever Bangladesh. His guidance was so fortunate that under it, Unilever Bangladesh evolved into the crown jewel of Unilever’s parent organization, given its exponentially competitive growth and stellar performance. In 2007, he repositioned to Manila as the chairman of Unilever Philippines. In the year 2008, he was also allocated as the chairman of Unilever North Africa and the Middle East (NAME). In 2013, he carried Unilever’s business to India and South Asia as Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Unilever (HUL).
His remarkable supervision was effectively promising and brought HUL market capitalization increase from $17Billion to $70 Billion in just seven years.
HUL is acknowledged as one of the top five most beneficial companies in India and Asia’s most extensive client staples company. HUL is currently the second-largest Unilever corporation in the world.
A MAN WHO BELIEVES
Mehta is a firm devotee of “doing well by doing good.” He is concentrated on constructing business institutions based on principles of benevolent capitalism. Mehta was raised in Mumbai and is the son of SP Mehta and Anita Mehta. His father was a former senior exec with the Reserve Bank of India. He is wedded to Mona Mehta, a chartered accountant. They are blessed with twin daughters, Naina and Roshni, who have studied at Cornell, MIT, and Harvard University. He is an enthusiastic supporter of purpose-driven and values-led businesses. His vision on HUL has carried on and boosted several initiatives that have a far-reaching societal and environmental effects.
In 2021, Sanjiv was accepted as the President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, India’s largest and most senior pinnacle business association. Sanjeev Mehta still works as the President of Unilever’s South Asia business and is an associate of the Unilever Leadership Executive.
