Sue Anna Dodd, famously known as Sue Ramirez, is a Filipino-American artist in the Philippines. Sue said in an interview that she decided to try her luck after seeing a TV advertisement for Star Magic auditions.
Concepcion Garcia, Sue’s mother, is a native of Sipalay City in the Negros Occidental region and the Philippines. She was born in Paranaque, the Phillies, on July 20, 1996. James Peter Dodd, her American father, formerly held a top official position at the US State Department.
Sue claimed in an interview that her father’s disease began to show symptoms when she was still pretty small.
Sue’s sudden urge to try her shot at show business can be attributed to her challenging home situation. Sue’s mother took on the responsibility of being the family’s breadwinner because her father could not work due to illness. After all, Sue had nothing to lose.
She recalled, “It was April 2010. I was 13, and my sisters said they would come with me for an audition. We went to [ABS-CBN] Audience Entrance at 6 AM. I didn’t expect that there would be that many people. I was 697th online. I was there the whole day. I didn’t have a phone; I didn’t have money. You also cannot bring someone with you inside. I was only getting my resume.
She also added that she didn’t feel any tiredness that day.
“I didn’t thought about if I am hungry already and sweaty. I can stay there and I can also go home, I can also be afraid but I didn’t. It was like the Lord is with me.”
Sue was first seen at a teen music variety show on ABS-CBN from 2010-2011. The program served as the network’s venue for showcasing its up-and-coming talent.
Like any newcomer, Sue wasn’t making much money, but she was glad she could now support her family financially.
Sue’s father sadly passed away on May 22, 2013. When her father passed away, she was 17 years old. Sue acknowledged that she thought about leaving the entertainment industry entirely after her father died.
However, despite being a rookie, Sue seemed destined to work in the entertainment sector as projects continued coming her way.
Sue began acting in 2011 when she was a part of the revival of the popular drama series in the Philippines.
To Sue’s credit, she never ran out of projects, even amid ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal woes. Playing supporting roles, according to the pretty actress, was never an issue as she was grateful for the opportunity to work in front of the camera.
It was only a matter of time before Sue got her chance to do a lead role. It started in 2017; she became a leading character in several movies in the Philippines.
It was a long journey for Sue before she came to her spotlight right now. She is competent to understand that her time in show business has now given her a blooming career. Not bad for someone who stumbled into their position in the spotlight.
