Continuing the means of her good examples, the incomparable Suad Abdullah and Hayat Al Fahad, Kuwaiti entertainer Haya Abdulsalam has become well known as Kuwait’s driving woman. However, her journey began just over a decade ago. Abdulsalam started out directing stage plays and working as an assistant director after graduating from the High Institute of Theatrical Arts in 2006. He did so on the sets of the Kuwaiti Director Mohamed Daham Al Shammari’s series Oyoun El Hob. In 2009, she made her acting debut in MTV Lebanon’s Om Al Banat. Together with the legendary Kuwaiti actress Suad Abdullah, the series marked Abdulsalam‘s debut on the small screen. After leaving her husband’s house to start a new life, a Kuwaiti mother struggles with her six daughters and one son.

Saher Al Lail (2010-2012)

Through the struggles of three families, the trilogy directed by Mohammed Daham Al Shammari depicts the everyday life in Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion in the 1960s and 1990s. Abdulsalam worked on the series for the first time with her future husband Fuad Ali. In the end, the couple got married in 2014.

Rooz Paris (2018)

Abdulsalam made a brief return to the Ramadan series in 2018 with the film Rooz Paris. The show, directed by Hamed El Badry, follows a young Kuwaiti woman named Rose as she travels to France for heart surgery. After that, she goes back to her home country and makes humanitarian work her life’s work.

El Khafi A’azam (2018)

Another 2018 Ramadan series, this drama directed by Ahmed Yacoub Al Muqla follows a love story set in the 1970s. Abdulsalam plays a girl who lives a reckless life inspired by romantic films.

Mannequin (2020)

In her most recent television series, Mannequin, Abdulsalam directs and stars alongside her husband. The family depicted in the story is one in which the women have been unlucky with men for three generations. Disagreements arise between them and the male employees of the cafe that opens next door.

 

Haya Abdulsalam has won a lot of awards and one of them was in The third Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards (DIAFA) that took place at the Palm Atlantis in Dubai. The annual awards ceremony was established to honor distinguished Arab and international personalities for their contributions to society. It is attended by prominent figures from a variety of fields, including business, music, art, culture, and humanitarian services. Kuwaiti actress Haya Abdulsalam was one of the evening’s honorees. Abdulsalam accepted her award on stage in a sparkling midnight blue gown by Kuwaiti Designer Yousef Al Jasmi. The design had long, sheer sleeves and a high neckline. She paired it with jewelry from Chaumet.
