Eugenio Derbez was born in Mexico City, Mexico, in 1961. He is the son of a well-known publicist and a well-known Mexican actress. His interest in acting began when he was a young child, and at the age of 12, he landed his first roles as extras in Mexican soap operas, he later attended the Centro de Education Artistica and the Mexican Film Institute, where he landed his first TV comedy role in Cachun Cachun Ra Ra!
Eugenio continued to perform while in school and, at the age of 19, enrolled in the acting program at Mexican Network Televisa. He also pursued a career in filmmaking, graduating from the Mexican Institute of Cinematography and Theater with a degree in film direction. The 1997 Mexican soap opera No Tengo Madre served as Derbez’s directorial debut.
Derbez made countless American movies and television shows in the beginning of 2010, including Girl in Progress, Miracles from Heaven, Jack and Jill, and Miracles from Heaven. He did, however, appear in animated movies like The Book of Life and The Angry Birds Movie 2 in contrast to live-action parts. The Spanish-language movie Instructions Not Included, which Derbez co-wrote, directed, and starred in, became the most acclaimed one both nationally and internationally. The movie broke a number of records at the box office, grossing over $100 million worldwide.

Derbez is married to Alessandra Rosaldo actress, model, and former singer. The couple has 4 children: Aislinn Derbez, an actress and comedian, Aitana Derbez, Jose Eduardo Derbez, and Vadhir Derbez. The whole Derbez family has been a part of a popular documentary De Viaje con Ios which was a comedy series.
Eugenio has also been a part of the movie Coda, which won an Oscar for the category of the best cast.
