Before entering Singapore’s talent competition, known as Star Search, in 1997, Yvonne Lim had already achieved success as a model, having placed second in the Singapore Polytechnic Beauty Quest and as a finalist in the Go Magazine Cover Girl Contest. She was offered a full-time artiste contract with Mediacorp and was handed the leading role in her debut television drama, Starting Point. In the character of a young entrepreneur, she left an indelible mark on the hearts of every audience member.
Yvonne has a natural passion for acting, and as a result, she plays every character with such ease that she receives praise from viewers and critics. Yvonne’s flexibility is also displayed in several blockbuster drama serials, such as Stepping Out, which won an award, and the period drama Return of the Condor Heroes, which aired in the 1970s. In 2002, she starred two of the highest-rated drama series of the year, The Reunion and The Vagrant, and she impressed audiences with her performance in these roles. In the same year, she played a significant part in the regional drama Innocently Guilty, a co-production between Mediacorp and Asia TV (Hong Kong). This show was a drama that featured regional actors such as Anita Yuen, Wong Yat Wah, Kent Cheng, and Samuel Lee. Her extraordinary performance drew the attention of people in Hong Kong, which ultimately led to a business sponsorship contract being signed for her in that region.
Lim has a husband named Alex Tien, a Taiwanese boy band B.A.D member. Alex Tien is three years younger than Lim. The couple chose Singapore as the location for their wedding. She gave birth to her son Alex Junior, also known as A.J., in 2014, and the following year, in 2015, the family relocated to Taiwan. In 2017, she gave birth in Taiwan to her second daughter, Alexa. This child was her second daughter. In 2018, Alexa was able to obtain her citizenship in Singapore. Lim is currently transporting her family to their former home in Singapore.
In an interview in 2019, Lim, currently located in Taipei, voiced her contentment and said that she has “accomplished success” with Alex, finally being able to appreciate the good sides of Singapore. The famous person revealed that her husband had expressed interest in applying for permanent residency and is mulling over the possibility of moving to this country. She added that it could happen in three to four years, indicating that it would not happen anytime soon. Yvonne had previously filmed her return drama in Singapore. Additionally, she sent her son AJ here for preschool. However, Lim is the only one who is still in town at this time. Since he and their two children moved back to Taiwan two months ago, her husband has become a stay-at-home dad. Lim is concerned even though the situation appears to be an ideal “complaint” – Alex has taken care of the children “too well,” and they are not missing their mother. The children feel that having two video calls in one day is too much, even if they do it occasionally. It makes Yvonne Lim a little melancholy.
Lim traveled back to Singapore in 2022 to shoot the latest episode of the drama because she was looking forward to the part she would be playing.
She also stated that it took her so long to go back to work because of her commitment to her family as a mother of two young kids. In addition, the pandemic has made it difficult for her to leave her family in Taipei and come back for projects, even though she misses her work and acting as much as she does. She said this was why it took her so long to return to work.
