The Versatile Personality : Ragheb Alama

Alama, born on June 7, 1962, is a Lebanese singer, composer, television personality, dancer and philanthropist. Born into a Shia family, he was named by his father, after the first Lebanese judge, “Ragheb Beik Alama“. At eight years old, Ragheb took up playing the Oud and participated in a live radio program to showcase his talent.

 

This versatile personality is one of the most economically successful singers belonging to the Arab world.He started his career in the 1980s when he competed on the talent show “Studio El Fan”, in which he won the Platinum Award. He rose to stardom after the show and was followed by releasing albums every year and number-one hit singles which were the first Arabic songs which were made into music videos. Alama is popular for his singles “Ya rait”, “‘Aan Jad”, “Alby Asheq’ha”, “Saharony El Leil”, “El Hob El Kebeer”, and “Baashaak”

 

 

When his musical career started in the 80s, Ragheb Alama opened the Saint George Schools. His vision was to give education to the maximum possible. This dream was achieved with his brother’s aid. Ahmad Subhi Alama, Ragheb’s brother has been the General Manager of Saint George Schools since it began. Ahmad built the organization, starting with the first Block which had just 200 students. Now the grown to almost 2000 students spread into 4 Blocks total (1 in Haret Hreik, 2 in Hadath, and 1 in Hay el Amerkan.)
