British chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author James Trevor Oliver. He is renowned for his nonchalant approach to food, which has allowed him to host a number of television programs and launch a number of restaurants. When The Naked Chef debuted in 1999, Oliver gained widespread attention. He launched the Feed Me Better initiative in 2005 with the goal of introducing healthier diets to kids. The effort later received official support. He was the founder of the Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group, a chain of eateries that debuted its first location, Jamie’s Italian, in Oxford in 2008. In May 2019, the chain entered administration. Oliver received the 2010 TED Prize for his TED Talk. He became a member of the Order of the British Empire in June 2003.
Oliver was raised in the Essex village of Clavering. In the little town, Trevor and Sally Oliver owned a pub. In an interview, he acknowledged that while still a little boy, he experimented and practiced cooking in the pub’s kitchen. At the age of 16, he graduated from high school with two GCSEs in art and geology. He then enrolled in Westminster Technical College. After that, Oliver obtained a home economics City & Guilds National Vocational Qualification (NVQ).
At Antonio Carluccio’s Neal Street restaurant, Oliver worked as a pastry chef in his first position. There, he got skills in the preparation of Italian food and grew close to his mentor Gennaro Contaldo, whom Oliver eventually hired to help manage his chain of high-end restaurants. When Oliver’s BBC program The Naked Chef made its debut in 1999, his cookbook quickly rose to fame in the UK. Oliver was asked to make lunch at 10 Downing Street for Tony Blair, who was the prime minister at the time.
Oliver started a movement in 2005 called “Feed Me Better” to encourage British students to consume wholesome foods and avoid junk food. The British government consequently promised to solve the problem. People chose him as the “Most Inspiring Political Figure of 2005” due to his outspoken crusade for dietary reform. The earnings of Oliver’s holding business, Jamie Oliver Holdings Ltd, were sufficient to qualify him for inclusion on The Sunday Times list of the wealthiest Britons under 30. Oliver earned the 2010 TED Prize in December 2009.
At the age of 38, Oliver read his first book, Catching Fire by American author Suzanne Collins, and disclosed in an interview that he had severe dyslexia as a young boy. Oliver is the epitome of conviction and hard effort, he has clearly traveled a long way from being unable to read to authoring and releasing numerous books under his name. One of the wealthiest and most well-known celebrities in the UK without a doubt is Oliver.
