Anne Curtis is a Filipino-Australian actress and commercial model working in the Philippines. Curtis was born and raised in Australia by an Australian lawyer-father and a mother, Filipina.
She was raised in Australia until she was 12, when her lawyer father, James Curtis, transferred the family to the Philippines. Curtis is appreciative of the action. “I’m delighted to be here. I would have been attending a boarding school if I were in Australia! My father had high standards for education. When I began performing advertisements, he continued discouraging me, suggesting that they were just a ruse to get me out of school. We were usually in bed by 8 or 9 because we lived in the country. It wasn’t fascinating. However, there are a ton of gimmicks here. Being young, I now like living here (in the Philippines), but when I’m settled, I may move back to Australia.”
A talent scout asked 12-year-old Curtis if she would want to participate in a kids’ beauty pageant in 1997. Her mother urged her to try it, but her father thought it was a hoax. Curtis then began to visit other talent agencies without telling her father. She and her family decided to remain in the Philippines permanently at that point. At the time, Curtis could not speak or understand Filipino, so he was forced to take classes.
In 2004, Curtis joined ASAP as a host and performer after switching from GMA Network to ABS-CBN, calling the shift “majorly life-changing.”
Curtis’ major break came in 2005 when she was awarded the show’s title role. She worked with director Wenn V. Deramas for the first time on this. Curtis acknowledged that Deramas was considering a different actress for the part, but she still went to the audition. She had the opportunity to collaborate with seasoned Filipino actors on this project.
In 2008, it was then revealed that Curtis would star in another movie. The movie was a recognized entry in the Metro Manila Film Festival of 2008. She won the Best Actress Metro Manila Film Festival Award for the movie due to the positive reviews she received for her performance. Curtis won his first acting honor with this. Additionally, she was nominated for a Gawad PASADO Award, a FAMAS Award, a PMPC Star Award for Movies, a Luna Award, and a nomination for Movie Actress of the Year. In the series mentioned above, she played four different characters. She was referred to as the “Dyosa” (goddess) of Philippine Showbiz because of her involvement in this series.
She rose to prominence as one of “It was Showtime” primary hosts in 2009.
Many movies, TV series, and hosting projects have come through in her years in the show business.
But Anne is not only interested in the show business world; since 2009, she has supported UNICEF Philippines and has become a famous spokesperson for the cause. She traveled to Leyte in 2013 as an advocate to meet with children and families affected by Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) and watch relief efforts. To support UNICEF’s “1,000 Days of Life” campaign, Curtis started the “Heroes for Children Run” marathon in October 2015. In February 2016, Curtis revealed that she had collaborated with UNICEF Philippines to write the children’s book “Anita, The Duckling Diva.”
Anne’s love life is also not a secret, alongside her busy schedule. She has been in love and a relationship on and off cam. At an early age, she was one of the most controversial people in the industry. Still, things changed when she met her now husband, Erwan, a Filipino-French entrepreneur and a brother of our past article, Solenn.
It was in 2009 when Anne and Erwan met in Europe. She was on a 2-week vacation and not planning to have a relationship then because of her past break-up.
Anne was single then, and Erwan had a major crush on her. They started dating in 2010 and went on many out-of-town, visited more than 20 countries then, got engaged in 2016, and got married in 2017, and are now a family with their daughter Dahlia.
And after 22 years in showbiz, Anne Curtis took a break from her career for the first time to concentrate on her family. Anne took maternity leave in Australia, where she was born, preparing for the birth of her unborn child.
And just this year, in June 2022, Anne made a comeback on show business. Anne manages to fit in emotional moments with her daughter Dahlia via brief video conversations despite her hectic schedule. Those phone calls offer Anne the motivation she needs.
Meanwhile, the actress-host also shared how motherhood has changed her perspective in life.
“I think learning to value time. You know, because when you’re thinking about yourself, and not thinking about anyone else, as I mean, yeah, your family and your boyfriend, but when you become a mom, you value your time spent with your children so much. Parang, that’s your priority. Whereas before, parang you know your parents will understand if you’re going to see your friends muna or if you’re going to travel with your friends over going on a family trip. Your parents will understand. But now that you’re a parent, parang, you value your time with your children much more. So I think, yun siguro ‘yung akin now that I’m a mom, like valuing time,” she said.
Anne is now an actress, entrepreneur, mom, and also wife. She’s living her best life to balance her career and family life with the full support from her friend, family, and husband. She is now an inspiration to every mom and to every woman to be more successful despite all circumstances. To take a break at some time and work hard all the time.
