Velda Tan: God will surprise you with the greatest gift of your life when the timing is right

Velda Tan is an entrepreneur and apparel designer who hails from Singapore. She has over a decade of experience working in the fashion and e-commerce businesses. In 2016, she was included on the Gen.T List of young industry leaders due to Velda’s contributions to these industries. Collate The Label, a line of women’s clothing was founded by Velda, as was the lifestyle brand Our Second Nature, which she co-founded with a business partner. She made it onto the ’40 Under 40′ list that Prestige Online published in 2020.
Velda Tan is both a wife and a mother who decided to practice motherhood uniquely. Throughout her journey, she battled challenges, endured painful experiences, and celebrated joyful milestones while keeping her head held high, her pride unbroken, and her heart full of love.

Velda Tan is a mother to their daughter, whom she shares with her husband, Frederick Yap. Before leaving Love, Bonito in 2013, Velda and Frederick were both employees there, where they worked together. They then established a business partnership in the hospitality industry by opening a pub and restaurant named Pince & Pints. Velda was instrumental in the early branding of the company; nevertheless, her husband is in charge of the day-to-day operations. Velda enjoys riding motorcycles in her spare time.
Velda disclosed that she was affected by polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) in an Instagram post she published in 2017. PCOS is a condition that can lead to infertility and, in some instances, the development of cysts in the ovaries.
Velda and her husband married at a young age, and they did not engage in family planning or active childbearing at that time, even though having at least two children had always been their goal. The married couple also didn’t believe they would have any fertility troubles because they were still relatively young when they married. However, they were proven mistaken when they went for a standard gynecological checkup when Velda was 28 years old after they had been married for three years but had not yet had a child. At that time, she learned she had PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). The intensity of PCOS symptoms might vary significantly from one woman to the next. The Doctor explained that her eggs do not develop to the point of maturity, and as a result, she does not ovulate. The Doctor indicates that she will require medical treatment to conceive a kid naturally.

After that, Velda’s physician put her through a series of medication cycles to encourage ovulation. She struggled through several processes without results. There was no sign of a baby at any point. She broke down in tears and confided in a close friend, who suggested that she consult a fertility doctor, who then changed the medicine she was taking to something different. After receiving the diagnosis, they decided to undergo a treatment known as Superovulation, which involves receiving injections and monitoring the development of the eggs. They were successful on their very first attempt. Consequently, in the sixth year of their marriage, they became parents for the first time to Ellery.

Despite the difficulties, Velda has found that becoming a mother has been the most rewarding experience of her life.
Velda understands what it means to be a mother to be a steward in molding her children’s lives and providing them with the best opportunity to realize their destiny.
Velda’s faith has been the primary source of power that she has drawn upon during her trip. She firmly believes that everything destined for you will come to you in its own time. They were married for ten years before she could finally start the family she had always envisioned. Although it could seem laborious and drawn out to some, for them, it is precisely when it should be happening.
