REVENGE : IS IT REALLY A DISH BEST SERVED COLD? 4 out of every five times at the end of an argument did you heard the sentence along the lines of "don't mess with me" "I will make you regret it" and the likes, yes? right ,which made me wonder just how old is this concept of revenge and why we don't forgive easily. Revenge is the action of harming someone who has done wrong to you. But dosen't this create a endless cycle of retaliation? Unless one or both parties stop but that rarely happens due to humans wanting to feel the sense of superiority and greatness among themselves. revenge can be seeked when the rule of law is weak, where you can't get justice, when there is corruption but you can't do anything about it. The Research conducted at switzerland shows that the moment after which a wrong deed is done to you, there is high chance that you will retaliate, at the moment it's often considered rewarding by our brain but there is short term effect and then there is long term effect Short term effect entails that we want revenge and we will get it. And long term effect causes emotional and physical deterioration and sometimes even take lives. Francis bacon says that : "A man that studieth revenge, keeps his own wounds green, which otherwise would heal, and do well.” So it's best for everyone involve to forget about revenge and move on to make their lives better. But can revenge be ever forgotten? can we rewire our brain to remove the concept of revenge once and for all? The ans is no. Actually revenge and forgiveness are the two sides of same coin. During ancient times when there was no civilizated society present people used to live together in a group to survive.that time there was a need to punish someone in order to ensure the survival of whole group if he had done wrong. Thus revenge is deeply rooted into our bones and we can't get this out of our head. This does not mean people always go for revenge. There are people who choose to forgive too. So in conclusion we can say that an eye for an eye thing can turn everybody blind. #blogging #revenge #campuscreator #creatorshala
