Pancrease , Insulin and Diabetes Pancreas is one of the major gland in our body which is dual in nature means its is both exocrine and endocrine gland Exocrine function helps in digestion It's Endocrine function performed by three types of cells that are 1) alpha cells produce Glucagon which increase glucose level in the body 2) Beta cells produce Insulin it decrease blood sugar level 3) Delta cells produce Somatostatin it inhibit the product of both of the glands Also there are PP cells which produce pancreatic polypeptides which increase secretion of glucagon Insulin Insulin is the important hormone that is associated with the regulation of carbohydrate breakdown and the blood glucose level If the presence of insulin blood glucose level decreases so it is very important hormone for the regulation of the blood glucose level If a person have deficiency of insult due to any reason such person develops the Diabetes Diabetus mellitus Diabetus mellitus that is your diabetis is a group of diseases characterized by high level of blood glucose level which develops due to the defects in insulin production There are many types of Diabetes but most important are 1) Type 1 2) Type 2 3) Gestational type Type 1 Diabetes These type of diabetes develops due to autoimmune disease that is our own immune system starts destroying our own beta cells which produces Insulin Due to less production of insulin blood glucose level remain elevated and person develops Diabetes But basically it is not most common type Type 2 Diabetes In these type of diabetes insulin production is normal but our body cells do not use insulin properly that is insulin resistance and due to these glucose cannot moves into the cells and remains in the blood so person develop Diabetes Type 2 diabetes develops due to many reasons such that is risk factors are ● old age ● Family History ● Obesity ● Hypertension ● Smoking ●Disturbed lipid level Generational Diabetes is develops in some womens most commonly obese women or women with family history of diabetes after pregnancy she will become again have normal glucose level How to know if i have Diabetes ?
